A Brief Introduction

"The roots of Riverwood Acoustics are deeply embedded in Ottawa. Logs have been washing ashore near my home for as long as I can remember, and it wasn’t until a year ago that I thought of something great: building a beautiful, quality speaker sustainably. These logs, remnants of the old timber-trading days, have been resting at the bottom of the Ottawa river in near total darkness and frigid conditions–perfectly preserved for over 100 years. Harvested in a pristine environment, the quality of this riverwood is unmatched–with a tighter grain than most people have ever seen and a density that creates a richness of sound heard nowhere else. Wood Sourcing:

Our sourcing methods are firmly connected to the history and culture of Ottawa. Our unique speaker enclosures are manufactured from old-growth timber harvested during early- to mid-19th century when the Ottawa River was the sole means of transporting logs to mills. Many of those logs were so dense that they sank to the bottom of the river where they have remained perfectly preserved to this day. This precious wood is recovered by experienced divers and slowly kiln-dried until it is ready to be used in the manufacture of our speakers. The tonal quality and beauty of this ultra-dense wood is unmatched and remind us of our connection to history and responsibility to the future.
